Standard double occupancy rooms included in package. Upgrades to deluxe available (space permitting) and single occupancy with 60 days advance reservation (space available). Silverton and Ouray are small towns, and lodging is booked months in advance. Rooms are on first-come- first served basis, so book early!

Meet photographers, sign up for individual photo workshops or heritage tours, receive "tickets" for meals, activity tours, town transport if needed.

Day 2, Monday, July 28     OURAY  
Wildflowers and Waterfalls
• 7 am Breakfast at Back Street Deli
• 8:30 am-12:30 pm. Half day alpine photo shoot.*
Yankee Boy Basin-wildflowers and waterfalls!
• 12:45 pm Lunch and Bachelor Syracuse Mine tour
• 3:30 pm, Transport back to town or your hotel.
• 7 pm Sunset Alpenglow photo shoot*

Day 5, Thursday, July 31     OURAY
Red Mountain Mining District
• 7 am Breakfast at Natalias 1812 Restaurant
• 8;30 am-12:45 pm.  Half day alpine photo shoot of Red Mtn. Mining district, winding up in Ouray
(We take care of check in and luggage)
• 1 pm. Lunch in Ouray
2:30 pm. Guided walking tour of historic downtown Ouray  with visit to Ouray History Museum.
• Dinner  at Outlaw Restaurant & Saloon.
Overnight in Ouray.

Day  6, Friday, August 1   
Friday    8 am breakfast at Artisan Bakery
Depart Ouray  unless taking photo lab or optional tours.

*Location and times of ALL photo shoots are dependent on weather and scenery at the time. You may upgrade, for an additonal charge of $55/person/per day to a full day photo shoot providing tour equipment is available.
Meals - July
Includes 5 breakfasts, 4 lunches and 4 dinners (with beverage and tip). Wednesday includes a Dinner Theater presentation. Enjoy a choice of your own Tuesday evening. You may upgrade any of your meal tickets, at your own expense if you wish. Alcoholic beverages not included and discouraged due to altitude. Vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, and other dietary options available - call us to discuss your needs when you book. If, when ordering, you go over your meal allowance, please pay your server the difference and tip accordingly. Meal tickets' will be distributed at Welcome Dinner on first night when we will go over restaurant choices and menus with you.

Tour Transport and Shuttle Service
Includes all tour admissions and tour transport. Mountain tours by San Juan Backcountry (SILVERTON) and Switzerland of America (OURAY) in four-wheel vehicles equipped with blankets, rain covers, extra bottled water and plenty of scenic seating! Three half day and one (optional) full day alpine tour included. You may upgrade from half day to full-day tour for $55/person/day by pre-booking at least 60 days in advance, or on the day of the tour provided tour equipment is available. In-town shuttle service is by van. Please tip your guides if you enjoy the services. Each 5-night trip begins and ends in Ouray where there is long-term parking available for your automobile. We will take care of transporting your luggage to and from Silverton and handling check in and check out of your accommodations at each location.

AIRPORTS Best air destination is Montrose, Colorado (35 mi. north of Ouray). Alternate air destination Grand Junction (74 miles north of Ouray) or Durango (75 miles south of Ouray). Shuttle services is available from all three airports. (Cost not included in tour.)
TERRAIN, ELEVATION, WEATHER -July
Elevations of 8,000’-13,000’ and rapid weather changes, including rain and sudden snow showers should be expected. Temperatures range from daytime high of 75 degrees to nigh time low of 30 degrees. Short mountain hikes of half mile and 2-3 mile walks in town required. Persons should be mobile and in good health, able to walk 2-5 miles in uneven terrain and hike 1/2 mile to one mile in high altitude mountain terrain. Persons requiring oxygen should not book this trip and cannot be accomodated.

Stay  hydrated! Remember to drink plenty of water, and avoid alcohol.
WHAT TO BRING - July
Equipment. This is a photography tour, so bring your camera (digital or film), any other photo equipment you need (including tripod, lenses, filters, flash), and your laptop computer with Photoshop (or other photo program) already installed if you wish to work on the images you create.  Be sure to pack plenty of film and/or memory disks for your digital camera, extra batteries and power charges if your camera uses one.

Clothing. Days start out cold and warm up to a sunny 75 degrees, then turn crisp again in the evening. It can and probably will rain or snow.
Layered clothing, water-proof, wind-proof jackets, head covering, gloves, warm socks and sturdy foot wear, and sunscreen recommended. Bring your bathing suit for the hot springs! Clothing should be lightweight, comfortable, easy to roll up and stick under the seat when the day warms up.

Misc. Bring a water bottle - we'll keep it filled for you, and a thermos for hot drinks. Plan to pack some trail mix or candy bars (available in town) if you need to watch your sugar levels. Remember to let us know when you book your tour if you have any dietary or health issues we should know about.
TOURS & WORKSHOPS
All San Juan Tours are NO Smoking. No children or pets can be accommodated. Due to high altitude, we cannot accommodate anyone on oxygen or with serious health issues. For the same reason, alcohol use is discouraged. The nearest hospitals are in Durango (50 mi. south of Silverton) and Montrose (35 mi. north of Ouray).

Although this trip is designed for adults over 50, we can accommodate persons 30 or older without children. More strenuous tours, specialty tours for railfans, gallery walks, and small, custom-designed instructional tours for semi-pro or professional digital photography are also available. Photo Lab - OPTIONAL  Friday, Aug. 1
Work with the pros. Sign up for one-day photography lab and learn to manipulate your photographs to enhance, crop, and finish them like a pro. If you wish, our photograhers have the capability of printing them for you or copying your images to CDs. (Custom framing is also available.)

Lab fee is $100/person and workshop takes place only if sufficient people sign up for it. You will need to book your own lodging in Ouray. E-mail us for details.

PAYMENT AND DEPOSIT. $995/person. (+275 for single person upgrade) all inclusive. Credit card only. Deposit of  $500 due with reservation.
($625 if reserving for a single room).  Balance due 45 days prior to start of tour (JUNE 13, 2008).      Call to make reservations and payment.
We do not take credit cards over the Internet. We will need to talk with you personally   to book your tour, provide you with a confirmation number and to discuss any particular interests, photography, touring or dietary needs and give you the latest tour information available. These are select, custom tours and we try to tailor each tour to accommodate special needs and interests. Note, prices are subject to change without notice, so book early to reserve at this price. Paid contracts will be honored at the contract price.

CANCELLATIONS. These are small, select tours and the tour companies and lodging establishments and professionals accommodating us have made special arrangements to hold rooms and equipment for our specific use. Therefore, in order to be fair to all concerned, if you must cancel, cancellations must be made no later than 45 days prior to departure. If made within 60 days prior to departure, a full refund will be made less $300 booking fee. No refunds for single room upgrades. No refunds for cancellations made less than 45 days prior to departure.
